The great flutist and teacher Julius Baker invited Mimi Stillman, when she was 11 years old, to perform a Telemann flute duet in Boston. She went on to study with Mr. Baker at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where she was the youngest wind player ever admitted.
