Part One of a series on how the laser harp was created.

I had several people email me to say that I was just miming to music, and that the whole thing was a fake. So I thought I'd better hire an impartial panel of judges to inspect the evidence.
(Turn the laser power *way* down when trying this at home)

Having undergone complete Vista failure this week, I had to use an older PC to create my movies... :(
Part Two of the Laser Harp Construction series - with complete plans coming within the next few days...
WFYI ran a story on the Laser Harp.
The only thing they got a bit wrong was how it works - but they did a good job of making me look human - good lighting always helps!

John Claeys on the Moog Etherwave
After the laser harp project, I've been researching the Theremin. My friend John brought his Moog Etherwave over last night to show us.
It is not an easy instrument to learn.
So the next challenge is to make a theremin that *is*...
More soon...
We upgraded the coil to a 60ma 12kv NST, varnished the secondary, and added a larger spun toroid.
The thing now goes completely nuts and scares the whole neighborhood.
The large 'bang' at the end of the run we think is a primary coil strike, which seems to occur regardless of the strike rail.
Oooh scary...
P.S. Looks like I chopped off the first few seconds of video...
Tesla coil with synchronous motor and real time phase adjustment.
The phase adjuster allows the sync of the motor to be adjusted along the AC sine wave, to get the most energy into the tank cap and the largest toroid discharges.
Thanks go to Pete K. and Alan M. (Teslastuff on Ebay) for all their help in getting this to work.
Building the TARDIS from scratch - Summer 2004.
I had some people ask me how it was done. The TARDIS builders group seems to have closed so I thought I would copy out the build pictures to YouTube for posterity.
All the timber came from Home Depot, and the signs from a sign shop.
This is the first tests of a 'laser harp' I built. If you've ever been to a Jean Michel Jarre concert you'll know what I mean!

Tesla Coil with a Hyperbaric Gap variation very cleverly assembled in record time by Pete K.
The gap is pressurized by a vacuum cleaner and allows for greater energy to be stored in the tank cap.
