A video I made in northern Japan to celebrate the explosion of cherry blossoms after a long winter. The song is called "sakura" which means cherry blossoms and the two kanji that pop up mean "cherry blossom" and later "flower viewing."
The Boys and the Girls swap uniforms for this contest, harmlessly called "Mr. Mrs. Contest." For the girls (playing boys) they have to say a pick up line at the end of the catwalk. The boys (in skirts) have to scream and respond when a teacher pulls up their skirt.
This is a slow look at a day in the lives of japanese students at school. They have to clean their own school every day for about 15 minutes. This includes becomming human mops.
Harujuku girls meet every weekend from all over the Tokyo area to put on their show. next time I go, I will get better video footage. I would like to thank Seattle musician Daryl Waits and the guys at Paradeco Records for allowing me to use his music for the video.
My first year students asked me to make a video they could watch on youtube so here it is. If you are interested in Japan or the JET program, you might enjoy my other similar videos. Enjoy
Everyone wears a mask and we all live upon the stage. Own it, love it, eat it for breakfast. I did, and so far I have lost 17lbs. in just 2 short weeks.
I took a long bike ride across Japan to Kyoto with two "friends." Here they are in an irreverent look at the trip. All shots were taken with the video setting of a still image digital camera. I am happy with the beginning and the end and the rest is garbage. A garbage sandwhich if you will. Enjoy.
