This is my basic chord study for working on range played from low Ab to F over double C. See http://www.nickdrozd off.com for more info. Thanks! Nick Drozdoff.
This clip is intended for two audiences. First are trumpeters viewing my online lessons site. Second are students involved with Science Olympiad. As a judge for S.O. I encounter many metal tube chimes, flutes and strings. There is remarkably little variety. Only two times has anyone brought in a brasswind. I hope this little clip might inspire some studetns co consider it.
This is a discussion of and older method I developed and wrote about. I now longer use these ideas as such, but offer them here as useful ideas for student trumpeters. You can find out more at http://www.nickdrozd off.com . Thanks! Nick Drozdoff.
This is my take on the Walt Johnson method for playing the upper register. I play the Hot Canary as a demo and then discuss the method. For more visit http://www.nickdrozd off.com . Thanks! Nick Drozdoff.
This is short demonstration and explanation of how I do lip trills and work on lip flexibility. Visit http://www.nickdrozd off.com to learn more. Thanks! Nick Drozdoff.
This is a ten minute discussion intended both for my Online Lessons page and the Science Olympiad page. It deals with overtones/timbre as applied to brass winds. However the simple theory underpinning it applies to all instruments. I only allude to Fourier Synthesis. A link will appear on the Science Olympiad page for further study.
This is a huge subject, and I have two video segments dealing with it. This is part one. I discuss the bowl size and the effect of mouthpieces on tone. I'll be discussing backbores and throats on another clip.
Can the un-amplified sound of a New York Trumpet Company Stage 1 California Light model Bb trumpet shatter this wine glass?? BELIEVE IT! This is a little dumb fun with resonance after class one day. No, PLEASE, after you've checked out this silly bit of fun, please check out my music! I really play music, too! ;-)
This is the next step in my Online Lessons series. This is how I continue my warm-up practice session. The idea is to accomplish several tasks with one exercise. For more info see http://www.nickdrozd off.com Thanks! Nick Drozdoff.
