Another presentation of the fashions of Harajuku, this time with 'Clear Water' as a soundtrack.
As of today, one of the photos is on display at Kitamura Gallery, by Shinjuku-Gyoemmae station. Hurry and see it while you can- I'll be there this weekend (Feb 16-17th 2008!) The display will end on Feb 20th.
Japan in the autumn, as seen in a local temple garden I love to visit. For a few weeks each year, it is a blaze of colour. The music I have accompanying this is 'Angel in the Sky', which I think conveys something of the same feeling. Please enjoy and please be inspired by these almost unearthly colours!
There is a crisis for foreign teachers who came out to Japan with Nova and I hope everyone effected by this gets back the salaries (especially) and refunds they are owed. Also, I hope Japan stays a place where people can still safely come for a cultural experience they might not otherwise have, sharing good times with friendly Japanese students and people from all over the world.
The largest electronics show in the world and the technology of tommorow. See the 'Kensaku-Kun' robot ride a bicycle, florescent robo-jellyfish and a 300 gigabyte holographic disk.
A photostory slideshow, of the very human-like animals at the famous Tama Zoo near Tokyo, known as one of the best zoos in the world thanks to it's generous enclosures.
This is the original version of Dawn Voyages, made from photos around Mt Fuji. I found that this music went well with this , but some may disagree, so I also made a 'traditional version'.
* Note- this video may be disturbing for vegetarians.
The ceremonial cutting of a large maguro (tuna) in a Japanese sushi shop. It may be a bit gruesome to see but it makes for very fresh sushi! The dedicated attritutes of the staff here show that sushi is just as much art as food.
Here is a shorter version of the original slideshow that I think has a more watchable length, having only the best photos and being as long as the piece of Koto music that helped make the original my most popular slideshow so far.
An exploration of the world of the small, with macro photography in Japanese temple gardens, along with new age music.
I am forever surprised at the heavenly beauty I find in this realm, of things that aren't usually important to us, of places we forget even exist. Let us marvel at the details in the very world we live in, yet a world we rarely see.
A photographic journey through England and Portugal, with HDR (high dynamic range)imagery. The ordinary seems a little more extra-ordinary this way.
The featured music is Pachebelle's Canon, as synthesised by Isao Tomita
I am a lover of technology and recently was impressed enough to get a PS3 to go with a new TV. This is from a fan's perspective about why I love it- as it offers a lot of new experiences in one stylish package. The games are good- but it is more about entertainment than just games.
Also, fortunately the price recently fell, so more people will probably have their hands on one soon.
Finally, the promise of Firmware 2.00 series is realised, with a host of updates, by far the least of which being (albeit imperfect)support for Divx and WMV!
Other goodies include a new visualiser and a new option for bitmapping (the style of 'upsampling') audio playback. The best yet is here now!
Having a perfect surround set-up is beyond most people's means these days, but something quite similar can be had on a pair of headphones. I explore JVC's recent Dolby Headphone processor and relate a meeting with Steven Smyth- the creator of DTS surround sound.
