From his second appearance on the Johnny Cash Show this is Ray Charles giving Johnny's No. 1 hit "Ring of Fire" a soul treatment. It was released on his then current country album "Love Country Style". Taped on Ray's 40th birthday this was aired on Sep. 23rd, 1970.
THIS AND OTHER GREAT PERFORMANCES ARE NOW AVAILABLE ON A 2-DVD-SET "BEST OF THE JOHNNY CASH TV SHOW". HIGHLY RECOMMENDABLE!!!
The Killer on a memorable episode of "Nashville Now" in late 1985 doing "Boogie Woogie Country Man" with yellow glasses and gloves on. He also did "CC Rider" and "Why You Been Gone So Long".
Fortunately at the end of this clip you can finally see that the musicians have heads, too. I was a little worried...
Some duets from the cousins on a Pop Goes Country episode, 1978. This will come out soon on the new Time Life dvd release on Jerry Lee Lewis. Check out the great website www.jerryleelewis.nl for information.
Another gem from the 1982 TV Special "25 Years of Jerry Lee Lewis": The Killer and Kris Kristofferson do a unique version of "Help Me Make It Through The Night".
This is "She's The Closest Thing To You That I Can Find" from the Midnight Special, probably 1976 or 77. I hope they will release those shows one day. The Killer was really rockin' on those tv shows back then. This is one of my all-time favourite country ballads of him. Pure chance I got this. Enjoy!
The Killer on a memorable episode of "Nashville Now" on Oct. 3rd, 1985 doing "Why You Been Gone So Long". This was just after the "Rock'n'Roll Reunion/Class of '55" sessions in Memphis. He also did "Boogie Woogie Country Man" with yellow glasses and driver's gloves on and "CC Rider".
This Creekdippers performance was taped August 27, 2006 at Sinkkasten, Frankfurt/M, Germany. On the 2006 European tour Jayhawks co-founder Mark Olson once again was joined by Victoria Williams and Michele Gazich.
I have permission to show this by the artists.
The song is "Poor G.W.", written by Mark Olson and can be found on the Creekdippers' 2004 album "political manifest".
Jayhawks co-founder Mark Olson and the Creekdippers' Aug 29, 2006 performance at Substanz Club, Munich, Germany. Fellow Creekdippers of course are Victoria Williams and Michele Gazich on violin.
Otzberg Hering is situated about 45 km southeast from Frankfurt, Hessen, Germany in the beautiful Odenwald, a lower mountain region. The medieval fortress, Otzberg Castle, dominates the scenery and dates back to the 13th century and was strategically built on the top of an extinct volcano. The little village of Otzberg Hering is where I grew up and now I can visit it online :)
