The Scorpene submarines have been developed by a French-Spanish joint venture of DCN-Izar shipbuilders. Two units were delivered to the Chilean Navy in 2006 and two more will be delivered to the Malaysian Navy in 2009. In 2005, India placed an order for six Scorpene submarines, they will be delivered between 2012 and 2017.
The Meroka is a Spanish developed close-in weapon system (CIWS) consisting of twelve 20mm guns. Its fire control system has a tracking radar and a thermal imager.
This is a video of the Royal Thai Navy's light aircraft carrier built by the Spanish shipbuilders Izar (now called Navantia). This carrier is based on the Spanish carrier "Principe de Asturias".
The "Fridtjof Nansen" frigates are a derivative of the Spanish "Alvaro de Bazán" AEGIS frigates. They're being built at Navantia's (formerly Izar) shipyards in Ferrol. Two ships have already been delivered to the Royal Norwegian Navy. A total of five will be operational by 2010. The project cost is $3 billion.
