An animation of the graph of exp[-(x-L)^2 -y^2] + exp[-(x+L)^2-y^2] as L varies from -4 to 4. Note that the point (x=0,y=0) begins and ends as a saddle point, but becomes a local maximum for small |L|.

The de Broglie-Bohm description of the behaviour of a spin one-half particle whose wave function is a superposition. One beam has spin-up and the other spin-down. When the beams overlap there is no spatial interference but the spin becomes oriented in the xy-plane demonstrating spin superposition.
