In January 2006 while visiting Antarctica, we witnessed a most unusual method for orca to dislodge a crabeater seal from an ice floe - they made large waves to wash the seal off the relative safety of the ice. Later the orca put the seal back on the ice and dislodged the seal a second time which suggested strongly they were training their young.

February 2007 is the tenth anniversary of the horrific capture of ten orca at Taiji, Japan. The pod of ten was brutalized. Five females and young were taken. The remaining five males were pushed out to sea. The pod will eventually die out as they have lost reproductive capacities.BlueVoice .org is working to stop these atrocities.

The transient orca whale traps a minke whale up against a breakwater on Saltspring Island .I am going to put this up in 3 or 4 segmints. It took the whales several hours to make the kill and this videographer Dan did a great job following these whales.

1997, In Taiji town, pacific coastal Japan. 10 Orcas were driven to Hatajiri cove and 5 of them were captured and sold to 3 Aquariums. Government gave fishermen captureing permission as "Academic Purpose". Now, 10 year after this eragedy, another orca capturing plan are underway.

16th of January 2007 Bourbon Orca went out fromt he coast of Norway/Bergen together with the supply boats Skandi Caledonia and Havila Faith. They had 8-10 knots and Orca had 13 knots steady speed. It's the special x-bow design that makes the difference in the speed and up/down moving of the boats.

My brothers co worker is fishing in Alaska, everyone would think this is a fish story but it is true. He caught an estimated 50 lb kingsalmon when an Orca- killer whale bit the fish in half 15 feet from the boat.
