This video demonstrates a new technique that dramatically improves the resolution of traditional plenoptic cameras. Our approach uses the new vario-plenoptic camera (or plenoptic camera 2.0) and a new rendering technique (full-resolution rendering). In the example we show in this video, we are able to improve the resolution of the rendered image by 500 times.
You can convert your medium format digital/film camera into a 4D light field camera by simply putting a transparency film (mask) on top of the sensor. Cost is less than 5 dollars and it can be done in 30 seconds.
We develop a method based on projected and acquired lightfields, to have real and synthetic objects interact, including multiple bounces of global illumination between them.
