This year the traditional Moharam procession was taken out in Manhattan, NY. The Procession is taken out in order to observe the great sacrifice made by Imam Hussain (A.S). This sacrifice has led Islam to remain alive year after year for decades and centuries. Imam Hussain's (A.S) message is the essence of Islam and the teachings of Prophet Mohammed (P.B.U.H).
