In this video we have tried to show how Caravaggio must have been influenced by Giambattista Della Porta's knowledge of concave mirrors and the images one can project from them, in his development of his chiaroscuro style. This is the first of our video podcasts produced to coincide with the loan exhibition to be held in New York this October 2008.

Edwin Lord Weeks (1849 1903), American artist, was born at Boston, Massachusetts, in 1849. He was a pupil of Léon Bonnat and of Jean-Léon Gérôme, at Paris. He made many voyages to the East, and was distinguished as a painter of oriental scenes.
