Nick at Nite was not as conservative in the 1980s and 1990s as they are today. They would use wacky promos to advertise their programs and sometimes show fake news reports or play short stand up comedy segments during commercial breaks. Here are some of the promo's for their programs.

Matt Leblanc in a Heinz Ketchup Commercial from 1987. This ad was shown well into the early 90's as well.
This commercial won at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival - Gold Lion Award.
Here are several clips I merged together, they were recorded from an episode of Benson in August, 1989.
There are bumpers for before and after commericials for "Benson", a promo for "Who's The Boss?" which also features the new WLVI logo for Fall of 1989 when they dropped the "Living 56" logo and promos.
There is also the station on-screen logo/bug on this clip as well.
promo for Sledge Hammer part of TBS late-night. Sledge Hammer was a show that aired on ABC from 1986-1988, It would parody other action/cop shows or events from that time.

I almost forgot what a great network TBS was at one time and how much variety they had.
Here are 3 Discovery Channel Idents, they use the original logo as well. The first two are from 1989 and the last one is from 1990. I merged them all together as one file.
Here is a promo from WBZ-TV 4 Boston for The Joan Rivers Show, it was recorded in August, 1989 in also has that famous (WBZ-TV 4) logo at the very end of it.
The original FOX logo along with WFXT channel 25 ID 1987. It was used on many Fox stations at the time, including WNYW 5 New York (Fox's main affiliate as of 1986) and KTTV 11 Los Angeles. In 1987 FOX Network made it's national debut.
