Sword World, an RPG based on the Japanese, D&D-style Sworld World game, which spawned such anime as Rune Soldier and Record of Lodoss War -- the former being set in the large continent of Alecrast, whereas the latter on the "cursed" island of Lodoss in the south.
RPG for the NES that practically nobody has ever heard of. Developed by Tecmo and released in 1991, the game received not a proper localization because Tecmo hurriedly made the transition to SNES and didn't bother to bring it overseas. However, due to emulation, we can enjoy this brilliant game which was ahead of its time in full English.
